The bike was a runner, except the side covers, rear footpegs and rear OEM rack the rest was there!Tacho and rpm was not working but all there.
The tank had a big dent(1 liter) and from the cilinder base oil was leaking.
The front guard was missing its extension, only the holes where there.....

As first job i started to change those deteriorated bolts with new stainless A2-A4.As rool only those that are not intended for engine mount, frame,or engine cases.Breaks never!
Image
Also cleaned(hand sanded )and repainted the header with 550º Krylon exhaust paint.Redrilled both steel bolts of the heat shield, those where one piece oxided!
Image
The engine will be repainted at a later stage of work.It is disambled not completely. Will replace piston and rings to oversize .050.The head and cilinder are now with the specialist. They will remove all paint for me to repaint it.
I took of the oil radiator and rear oil reservoir. Both where hand sanded only in those parts that showed some corrosion. Then overpainted with gloss black 250º paint.
Image
The conections where as new galvanizaed.I cleaned them as best I could and repainted them also in black.Note I reshaped all the small plates between the oil cells.

Now the rear oil tank had lots of surface oxidation.I was afraid the walls where compromized. But once sanded and inspected I noticed it had 1mm thick plates. So painted it with at least 5 layers of spay paint.Looks good to me now :shades:

Look I also replaced all the original bolts for A2.O rings replaced and the screen inside the tank cleaned.

As next I sandblasted the sidestand and painted it with powder coat. Also did the extension to the end of it.
Many asked me why I started with little details before??????
Easy as I was getting all the original spare parts from Rudi in Germany(In the same boat as Daniel here)and those take some time to arrive. Most will be carried by my mom who is visiting europe(for 6 month)and returning in June.Love you more now mami!
Image
If you look close the engine splash guard was drilled holes once.Someone filled those again but did not a good job! So I redrilled those open again. As we have very hot summers some extra air inlet is not bad!

Yeah Mezo that is my work bench....... :headslap: Wish I had your facillities..... :congrats:

Next work is the break caliper and hand pump.
This was not so bad so i decided to replace the paint only. This was done with paint remover. Not sanded!
Was an easy and fun job to do.I allways here music while doing this.Creedence,Pink Floyd,Rory Gallagher(my favorite musitian)among others.
So looked the bike
