I'm nearly getting to the stage of my rebuild where the wiring loom is to go back on, a good mate told me about a bloke in London who has done work on Dakar bikes wiring looms, he builds them from scratch.
He told me its like a blank canvas, what ever electrical item I want, just put it on the bike and he'll sort out a new wiring loom. Any switch gear, GPS the lot.
I was thinking of a GPS Electrical point, but I can't really think of anything else I might want/need. Its going to Africa in about 18 months, and I intend to keep it for ever and ever.
What would bolt on to your bike?

I would just ask him to put an extra 2 or 3 wires in the loom from the battery location to the headstock area, that should cover most eventualities.
I would run a wire for a waterproof 12v cigarette socket, another wire to take care of heated grips etc, and a third for auxiliary lighting & have these separately fused from the bikes main loom.

A plug capable of running a compact compressor. Makes it easy to lower and raise air pressure in tyres, and if you get a puncture.

Yep them fuse boxes are nice, the poster has a 3AJ so he has room to mount one in the fairing (where it will be of most use) but i would still run the wires whilst a new loom is being made just in case there is a fault in the future or extra power is needed.
