I have the double ninja carbs....Not that the factory carb didnt work, just wanted to fiddle with it.

It works just fine, I guess its slightly better than stock, but nothing outrageous :star:

I had to go a tad up on idle and mainjets, and shiw the needles around 1mm up with small washers.

I had a slightly off idle stumple, which took me a while to sort out. I dont think the needels have a perfect shape, but I didnt want to buy the dynojet kit for the carbs either :)

You never get over the desire to do stupid things. You simply have
to overrule your stupid urges with an acquired sense of fear.

Well got the carbs in the mail. Keihin cr33's.Hope they are not to big, second guessing myself on the smaller cr31's.Purchased new intake manifolds and push-pull cables also.Stripped the bike down today ,ready for install tomorrow. In the middle of a hundred degree heat wave.So beer brakes were mandatory.Removed top bolt on rear shock for more working room.Had to do some running around (shopping) for air-cleaner boots, (2" diameter rubber coupling, purchased at plumbing department at "Home Depot".) A little shaving with a sharp razor and a Dremmel tool to fit nicely, and angle slightly away from the rear shock. As a filtration system This rubber boot will be covered by the inside foam of a pod filter, used on dirt bikes, already shaped to fit.The petcock on the xt600 is smaller in diameter than the gas line needed for the Keihin carbs (5/16 or 7mm).But by using the original gas line (very thin in outside diameter) as a shim, just covering the petcock nipple, the larger gas line fits perfectly.I'll be at it again tomorrow. Manifold is a 2" diameter rubber plumbing fixture cut in half, springs scavenged from a pod filter and I'll be using the interior foam sleeve of that pod filter. Thanks, Mike

Carbs were a tight fit, throttle cables installed and gas tank has just enough clearance for the throttle linkage. Should have it up and running tomorrow. Mike

Ok...It's alive, After hooking up the gas line and kicking it till the bowls filled up ,it fired up. It does idle to high at 3000 rpm ,but I'll dial that in tomorrow.
Two flips on the throttle and it pegs the tach, it never went over 7000 rpm on the stock carbs, now all I know is that it easily pegs 9000 rpm in just a flip of the throttle. Test ride tomorrow Mike
