The Swingarm thread

Post by Yami »

Couldn´t find a swingarm thread here so I made one. smile:
Thought it could help swapping between our bikes. :scratch:

When I had dismantled the swingarm from the 2KF frame I thought it was really heavy.
But it´s made in steel so it did not surprise me.
I read a thread here at the forum and found out some bikes had alloy swingarms.
Could you guys post what kind of swingarms you have, from what bike and the measures?
Those who like can also fill in the weight of them and a pic so we can spot possible differences.
Hope you think this is a good idea.

I´ll start with my 2KF because it´s off the frame and I have also used it in the measure example.

A = measure from outside dustcap to outside dustcap.
B = measure cc pivotbolt to first opening of wheelaxle gap.
C = measure inside swingarm legs.

-------------------------------------
A = 205 mm
B = 485 mm
C = 265 mm

Weight linkage included = 8,0 kg

I do not have any measurements but I will state the obvious.

XT600 43f - alloy swingarm, drum brake.

I have read rumors of people using the TT600 on early xt/tens. The TT600 swingarm is also alloy and apparently a little bit longer, unfortunately they are also apparently a little bit narrower as the TT600 does not have a cush drive, thus making mounting a xt/ten wheel problematic.

Is the rear engine mounting boss the same width on kick & electric start models?

& I've noticed TT & TTR600s & the new XT660z tenere have alley swingarms but different linkage to the XT/XTZs so pics & specs of the linkage would be useful.

3YF/4MY XTZ660 (steel)
A. 219mm
B. 525mm
C. 235mm
D. 64mm

( "D" is the engine mounting boss width :thumb: )

Ok, I have the measurements of the above mentioned 43F swingarm. smile:

43F (XT600 -85) Made of aluminum
----------------------------------------
A = 205 mm
B = 485 mm
C = 222 mm

Weight linkage included = 6,0 kg
Weight linkage = 1,8 kg
Weight swinger only = 4,2 kg

Xtzrick, I´ll will update my posts with the engine mounting boss width later. I think it was 80mm
for both 2KF and 43F but I´ll check later and add a "D". smile:
