Acerbis tank for the XT550...?

Can anyone please advise?

As per the Restoration thread... we have 2 XT550's in SA. While here in the UK, I have now bought an ACERBIS Desert Tank for the one bike. It was advertised on eBay in Germany as a plastic tank for the XT550.

I took the plunge and got it to the UK - arrived this morning.

Yes there's some work on it... but the tank itself is intact and "looks" as if it could be the correct tank. However - all I find on it is the number "1884" that I assume designates the model number.

Can anyone confirm whether this is indeed the correct tank...? (before I haul it in the plane back home..)

That looks a lot like a ver. 2, Acerbis 23L, xt600 tank...

That is an XT600 tank for the 43f not sure if it will fit the 550 probably worth a try,
I believe Acerbis did make a tank for the 550 the picture below is one I found
on the net a while ago but have no more details.

bopster - I do believe that that is the correct tank sir! Indeed, the mountin near the seat corresponds with the XT550 tank design.

Is that yours.... if it is ... remember that I'm desperate to get one for my son's bike.... and I'm only in Kent

Hi Goose, no the 550 tank is not mine I only had the picture of it, I have one like yours for the 43f.
I picked up a dirt cheap 550 myself the other week and have been looking around for what's available
and it seems not much............will keep my eye peeled though. cheers bopster

I bought one of these for my second XT 550, but it is only standard Fuel Capacity!

i have an acerbis placcy tank also numbered 1884, i got it thinking it would fit the 550, but the gap is to narrow to go over the flairing at the top of the shock and alsso to narrow for the oil tank part to pass through, so i have now a surplus tank that fits nothing i own, pah, anyone want an acerbis tank, pm me an (sensible) offer.
