Re: Wanted: Clutch cover to fit 1VJ Tenere.

Good point on the starter motor. The bike is a few thousand miles away from me (sniff) as I'm in Mali.

Typical: I've got some spare time to sort stuff like this out, but can't look at the bike to check.

Tapping threads is beyond my experience for now, but yes I was going to have a try fixing the ...

Re: Wanted: Clutch cover to fit 1VJ Tenere.

Thanks for taking the time. I'm keen to avoid the E place if I can!
and hopefully do a deal with someone from here: I've had quite a bit of help here.
One of your links has the kickstart bung but not the recesses for the decomp fititng just below it: It's a minefield!
I'm in no rush so will keep an ...

Re: Wanted: Clutch cover to fit 1VJ Tenere.

Good point! I'd prioritise condition over colour!

Hadn't realised oil feeders would be an issue: I've been reading around and I understood they were all pretty much the same, even non kickstart versions can be used as there is just a plastic bung...so I thought...until looking online at pictures ...

Wanted: Clutch cover to fit 1VJ Tenere.

Hello,

One of the oil filter housing cover bolts has stripped on my 1VJ. Yes the one that gets stripped easily as unlike the others the female thread is in the clutch cover in front of an oilway.

So does anyone have a clutch cover suitable they would be willing to sell and post to France?

Ideally ...

Oil choice for 1VJ

Hello all.

So what oil shall I put in my 1VJ? I've been meaning to change it since I bought it a year ago. I will doing a full oil and filter change. Synthetic or mineral? 20W40 is needed according to the workshop manual right? As this is rare, the common options seem to be 10W40 . I typically ride ...

Re: Western Alps with my Tenere and friends, 2014

Fantastico!

In September I rode Turin to Nice with my wife over some of the tracks you did. Only I was on a push bike. I fell off in the 1st 10km after hitting a bollard...but gritted teeth and carried on for the 700 odd km. Got home and found out I had broken the neck of my femur! Since then my ...

Re: I'm after a copy of workshop Manual

Mezo,

I have the Yamaha 1VJ Workshop Manual. It is formed of the 1VJ specific plus the 34L plus the XT550.
Is this available on the forum somewhere already? If not, any interest from yourselves in a pdf copy?

Cheers

Re: Looking for Teikei Y27PV Secodary Main Jets

Hi.

First post here. I have just bought a 1VJ with only 25000kms on the clock. Looks authentic. Details to follow elsewhere on the forum. I bought the bike close to the med in France at 20m above sea level. I live up at 600m asl. At home it runs rough, around 3500rpm starts to get very lumpy. I ...
