Re: XT 600 43F engine info
Hi
Well I took the crank assembly to a small engineering workshop in Liverpool, who specialise in Yamaha, but when he pulled the crank apart, he realised that it was a 1984 model and his stock only covered 1989 on. The con rods were changed on later models, (2mm wider and a larger crank pin and ...

Re: XT 600 43F engine info
Hi
Well they have only been in for a few 'run in' miles, so I can't say what they are like long term !
But if you think about it; Yamaha don't manufacture bearings - they MUST buy bearings from a bearing manufacturer, so if you use SKF, KOYO, FAG, Timken etc etc, they have top notch specs, and ...

Re: XT 600 43F engine info
Hi
When I stripped out the old main bearings they were NOT type C3 - they were standard KOYO 6307 & 6306.
So they could have been original, (as the engine did not look to have been stripped before)
I fitted type C3, (having read the info on this forum), but I don't think you need to get a ...

Re: Regulator/rectifier question
Hi - thanks for all the replies
My bike IS single phase, with two white wires to the rectifier supplying the AC, the other coil on the alternator supplies the CDI unit to produce the sparks, (they are totally independent). In fact this bike will run happily without a battery or Rectifier ! (the CDI ...

Re: Regulator/rectifier question
Hi Tom - thanks for you reply, I was trying to understand why a monitor wire is included, (bearing in mind they are electrically connected, when ignition is on)
From what I can gather the alternator sends the AC through a rectifier which then converts to DC
This DC is then fed to the Battery and ...

Re: Regulator/rectifier question
Yes I guess your correct - but I'm building a 'tracker' and I'm rewiring it, so when I tried it - it was with a 'non standard' circuit.
It was the first start after a total engine rebuild, and to be honest I didn't think it would start quite so easily, so I was excited with the sound and wasn't ...

Regulator/rectifier question
Question regarding the wiring of the rectifier for a 1984 43F - Kick start
I have a five wire rectifier, I think the following is correct:
2 white = AC in.
Black = Ground
Red = Rectified/Regulated out
Brown = Monitor/sensor wire
The wiring diagram shows the Red wire connected to the Battery and ...

Hi All
I’ve visited this forum as a guest many times and found loads of useful information, and as this is my first post, I hope I’m not teaching grandma to suck eggs:
