Hi Thomas,
I haven't heard of Tenere's being particularly prone to fuel leakages, but depending on age, it could be that fuel is leaking out of old hoses, especially from the tap. If the tank has been lifted off recently, it may be the hose hasn't been pushed on tightly enough to the tap at the back ...

Engine weight query
Morning all!
Just a quick question and that is how heavy the XTZ 660 3yF engine is. I want to send one by courier, however before I start ripping the beast apart I need to clarify the weight.
If someone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Cheers,
Halgeir

Re: My XTZ660 is a very sick puppy
Afternoon,
Thank you for the advice. Thankfully I have yet to start dismantling the old beast. I will check the compression again, and try the air leakage test with an air line.
It might not be all doom and gloom yet.
Cheers, and I'll keep you all posted.

Halgeir

Re: My XTZ660 is a very sick puppy
Just a quick update to where my poor old Tenere is.
Unfortunately after another Saturday spent investigating the poorly beast, from cleaning carbs, checking wiring etc, I was resolved to finally carrying out a compression test.
Well the good news is I've found the problem. The bad news is however ...

Re: My XTZ660 is a very sick puppy
Afternoon Fred,
When I last took off the carbs i did inspect the intake manifolds (as I've heard they can be a problem) and was pleasently suprised to see that they were'nt in too bad a condition. However, for the sake of 5 mins work, when the carbs come off at the weekend, I'll take them off again ...

Re: My XTZ660 is a very sick puppy
Thanks Rick,
Stripping the carb again sounds like the best plan, and I appreciate your very helpful advice where to clean.
I'll be popping into Haldfords on the way home from work today to pick me up some carb cleaner. Luckily I have a collection of brushes at home that should suit.
Cheers mate, I ...

Re: My XTZ660 is a very sick puppy
Hi Hoarder.
Thanks for the reply, good advice.
However, during the past few weeks, I've cleaned the air filter, and gone through a couple of tanks of petrol, so I'm doubtful it's the tank. But, I think I'll pull the carbs apart this weekend and clean all the hoses and check for leaks.
