Re: Wanted: panel for paint reference from 1996 660 Tenere 4MY

I'm selling a tank at the moment on eBay:
https://ebay.io/m/I8Yt2X

That's probably a bit expensive just for a paint match, and tricky to post both ways. I'm based in London, DM me if that's local and you want to come scan a panel.

I'm still missing the left side panel battery cover... Rare it seems

For info I swapped the rocker cover for another. (but kept original rockers).

Unmatched Rocker Covers - possible?

Hi all,

My rocker cover has a chunk broken off where the oil feed bolts on. I believe a brake banjo bolt was used to attach the oil feed to the top of the rocker cover (XTZ660 3YF / 4MY), which is too long. It caused a crack, oil leak, and then finally a chunk of aluminium broke off. 1 inch x 1.5 ...

Another YFM660 Raptor Carb Swap

Hopefully I can add some info to the forum rather than request it for once!

Summary
This swap probably isn't a good idea.

I was doing a top end rebuild including light porting (gasket matching really), and a 1.5mm oversize piston. Decided to do the YFM660R Raptor carb swap as I had heard it is ...

Left Side Fairing / Battery Cover

Just got back from a ride with this item missing but the front plastic post, snapped of, still inside the grommet...
Bit of a mystery how it escaped from under my leg, maybe when standing.

Anywhere to reliably source one in the UK?

I saw someone on ebay in Oz who does whole fairing sets and I've ...

Re: 1 cylinder running.

Sorted.
The needle jets were definitely worn, more noticeable on one side. The idle is now perfect, it pulls soooo much better. Thank you very much!

Re: 1 cylinder running.

Hi Timon,
Thanks for the reply.

Disassembled the carb, sprayed cleaner through all orifices, all jets and metal bits spent an hour in 'ultrasonic' (a tupperware glued to a mouse sander) with carb cleaner, and overnight soak.
Replaced all gaskets and seals but not any jets or the needle. New ...

Re: 1 cylinder running.

Ran half a can of seafoam through the inlet. Confusing compression reading after that so I'm going to ignore it for now....

Went over the fuel system again, blocked vacuum line to the pump. I overlooked it because the pump was relatively new, and I really don't understand how that hasn't caused ...

Brand new tester, out of the box. Not sure how to test the tester.

Could this be carbon build up?
These numbers make it 11.5 : 1 versus stock 9.5
Equivelent to 7cc carbon build up per ...

Re: 1 cylinder running.

Many thanks for the swift replies.
White/green residue, the usual old carb crud.

Compression test: 159 left (good side)
167 right (bad side)
Not sure what's normal but sounds good to me.

Fuel lines:
All lines to the pump are new, and after the pump are clear. Both bowls filling so don't think ...
