Re: XT600 bit of black smoke and valve? noise

Back on the ticking noise, some people say it's normal for an XT but still not sure. No sound when cold, starts after riding it a minute or so. Checked valves again, nothing there. Also took off clutch cover to check counterbalance nut and crank nut, both are tight (loctited them too when assembling ...

Re: Shortening choke plunger

Will try when i get proper mounting hardware, last time i fitted (bodged) it didn't work, maybe it will now. Otherwise the collar + grub screw should work nicely. Thanks!

Re: XT600 bit of black smoke and valve? noise

Not sure if it has been replaced with knob style or if the carb is actually a 34L or other model carb, will pull out choke plunger today and check. Bike does indeed start very easily when cold, agree that idle is a bit high, will adjust a bit. Also floods very fast if I don't kick it the right way ...

Re: Shortening choke plunger

Think i'm gonna try cutting it first, if it works i'll keep that, if not i'll replace with cable style one. Would like to keep it as simple as possible, only need to use it once a day when riding anyway.

XT600 bit of black smoke and valve? noise

Have done 2500km's since rebuild of my 43f with 34L engine (replaced piston, crankshaft, oil pump, gears, rebuild cylinder head, new seals, bearings, gaskets, everything) and it is riding great. Goes well to 150km/h, haven't had to top up oil at all, did a 1500km ride through Germany last week but ...

Shortening choke plunger

I have an Acerbis Desert Tank waiting for my xt600 43f but when mounted the petrol tap is right in front of the choke plunger. Has anyone ever tried to shorten the plunger? I was thinking about taking it off the carb, chopping off the end and soldering a new knob to it. Anybody tried before? Or any ...

Wanted: 34L/43F gearset, 3AJ oil pump

I'm in the procesa of rebuilding my 34L engine, top end still good but gears show pitting and oilpump is done. Anybody has a good gearset that will fit my engine and a 3AJ oilpump to upgrade my engine? Doesn't have to be new, as long as it works.

I'm in the Netherlands so shipping is required ...
