Re: Is this from an Xt?
Just want to say THANKS. I needed cheering up today and this did it! (Am I easily pleased or what?)

Lowering the bike
Getting a bit old to get my leg over (I know, I know) and getting cramp when getting off!
Is there a lowering kit available for the XT600E or is it a case of specialist rear shock and raising the forks through the yokes?

Re: Exhaust Studs
All done. Local bike mechanic took the studs out and have fitted stainless with plenty of coppaslip. Using brass nuts, as was done back in the day. so no rust there!
Whatever, I'm happy.

Re: Exhaust Studs
Thanks for the advice lads. 8mm studs sound like a really good idea. 6mm is far too small!! I take it the holes in the clamp will take it?

Re: Exhaust Studs
Thanks M
I don't have any welding facilities at all. My local bike workshop is going to have a look to see what they can do.
I will keep spraying anyway. I have drilled out broken bolts before but the left hand drill idea sounds good. I have some stainless studs to replace the mild steel OEM rust ...

Exhaust Studs
:omg:
Right, I have removed the exhaust from my 2003 XT600E but at the cost of snapping off two of the studs. One is right where it goes into the head so, I assume needs drilling out. The other one, awkwardly placed behind the frame downtube, has all of the stem still in place but I cannot shift ...
