The purple sealant looks like Loctite 515 master gasket. 515 is one the best things you can use reassembling engines . If any ends up inside, it dissolves on contact with oil.

Another tip. In fitting new fork seals. Some 515 around the outside of the seal. An the seal will slip into the ...
