The 1VJ was supposed to be an improved bike over the older 34L type, but this model had lots of deficiencies. The bigger looking tank went deeper on the sides cutting the airflow to the engine, this was to accommodate the relocated airbox under the tank. The new poorly located oil cooler, the missing vent slots on the front guard, the new re-located airbox and the vacuum type gas pump were all problematic upgrades, many of those under specific circumstances caused a fatal engine overheating, all was solved with the introduction of the generation three Tenere the 3AJ.
The one bike with that "aggressive" look indeed!
