Up the road a little, we stopped for a coffee and a bite to eat at a town called Noojee. :eat:

Image

Just as we were leaving Noojee, six trailriders pulled up. All in serious need of petrol with their puny tanks and a 90km range.
This was the only petrol pump for about 40kms and it had run out of gas that morning!!!

The store lady apologised and produced a 4 litre can for them to SHARE.

Bernieboy and I quietly sneaked away before they spotted the giant tanks on the Teneres. :oilleak: :oilleak:

"Don't worry," he said, "things could be worse ........."
So I stopped worrying and lo and behold, things did get worse!

Wombats are beautiful creatures,

Image

Unfortunately this one is dead,
:wtf: killed by an impatient speeding CAR driver.
His spirit will live on , immortalised in these forums.

Bernieboy and myself took our revenge on the next car we saw.... :omg:

A friend of mine got hit in the eye by a small grass-hopper, it went around the back of his eye and he could feel it kicking! Into hospital and they popped his eye out and retrieved the now non kicking bug!

The ride continued along a twisty ridge road that took us into Marysville. A scene of death and destruction 18 months ago when wildfires burnt 1.5 million hectares and destroyed the Marysville township. A total of 173 people died in the fire, 34 in Marysville. By now the bush is starting to re-grow.

Burnt hills as far as you can see (with one fucked eye).

We headed home along a fantastic winding forest road called the Acheron Way. Stopped here for a drink of water from the Acheron River.
