You can use the 3TB conrod kit on the VJ and AJ cranks so see no reason why the complete TB crank wont swap over

yes totally right... done it a few times now ... and if you're rebuilding a 3AJ crank use the 3TB conrod, it's better

What does he charge for a crank rebuild Geoff?

Normally around 50 quid, if you supply all the parts....

Are the 3TB-11400-00 (3AJ) and 1VJ-11400-00 (1VJ) cranks interchangeable? I am putting together my 3AJ bottom end with a set of 1VJ case halves and am wondering if I can use this crank I found in Australia

I finally got a 3AJ crankshaft in the mail. It must have come on a sailboat through Singapore or the Suez Canal because it took a heck of a long time to arrive from England. The packaging was pretty shoddy. A few wraps of a mailer with a single piece of cardboard for international shipping, but at least it came.

I had my suspicions that the crank had been damaged so I took it to a shop to be tested for trueness. Sure enough it was out of round by .003". The limit in the 3AJ manual is .001". So the shop boys took a brass hammer to the crank and straightened her out and now she's right at .001"

Also the flywheel threads had been damaged by a hammer blow, probably to remove the flywheel (of course), and the body had a good ding in it from where I assume the bike breakers hammered it out of the case. Despite all the minor damage I think it'll run.

And of course to celebrate spending money on a crank I spent money and bought a new bike. A 1989 XT600 that I will be breaking down for parts. I think the engine is shot and a lot of stuff is missing so I'll be picking it to pieces and keeping the best and selling the rest.

If anybody needs anything let me know. Probably selling the wheels, forks, tank, plastics, swingarm, and the engine as a lump for parts. It does have a title for the rattle can gray frame though!
