XT 600E 192

Post by steved998 » Thu Jan 25, 2018 12:49 pm

Hi I have a XT600 and believe the year of manufacture is 92. This is a Spanish bike and I am looking to do a rebuild. Any advice would be useful but I have two main problems.
1. The air intake cowls either side of the fuel tank are damaged in that some of the plastic has broken off so cant be repaired. I cannot find replacements for these anywhere. Have tried Wemoto, Kedo and a few other sites but cannot even find a part no! Any suggestions?
2. The wheels and spokes are pitted with rust. Looking at the replacements they are very expensive has anyone refurbished the existing wheels and if so how did you go about it?

Many Thanks Steve

or

:welcome2: by the way
When you say rust I assume you have chrome rims, you can get them rebuilt with new rims and spokes by somewhere like central wheels in brum, have not heard anyone getting them rechromed.

Sorry I did not reply sooner had problems logging in (entirely my own fault). Thanks for the info the air scoops in the 2nd link you sent are the right ones. They are pretty expensive so at the moment I am intending to leave them off but who knows some others may turn up.

Also thanks for the info on the wheels and yes the rims and spokes are pitted with rust but at least I now have an idea of the replacement cost.
The model number is a 3BT and any additional info anyone has on this rebuild project would be greatly appreciated.
