Re: Clutch rattle when cold

Hi Phil, It could be a worn pull rod bearing, though they do tend to be quite robust. With 38000 on the clock it is worth taking the clutch cover off to have a look & take off the crank & balance shaft nuts so you can inspect the parts they hold on. These nuts do come loose so you'd be getting peace...

Re: XTZ 660 (3YF) shock rebuild

The rebound adjuster is meant to "click", I think not clicking means you probably just have dirt in the mechanism.

I had my shock re-built by a shop, I don't think there's a XTZ shock re-build on the forum.

Re: Newbie just joined in need of help

Hi Gonzo
:welcome2:

You might struggle finding a frame, a lot of the breakers I know stopped selling frames through fear of being implicated with criminal types, some still do though.

What's wrong with your frame?

Re: Wire reading both positive AND negative

The wire grounds through what ever it's supplying voltage to, so any lights that are on or electronic gizmos in use the wire will ground through.

Re: 3YF exhaust installation

Hi
:welcome2:

I fit my headers as 1 piece but with the clamp that connects the short, left header to the main pipe loose, so I can manipulate it a bit ( :hulk: )

Re: How hot is too hot?

Hi Bobby :welcome2: :bouncing-boobs: I don't know of any switches that fit, sorry. My fan NEVER came on in the 50,000+ miles I did when my bike was on the road, but then the temp gauge never went near the red. The problem I had was getting the engine to warm up quickly 'til I made a bypass coolant c...

Re: Where do I find a new exhaust manifold Xtz660

Off the road is a big bore pipe, but that bend in the left tube looks very tight. https://www.off-the-road.de/out/pictures/generated/product/2/900_600_85/otr_kruemmer_xtz660.jpg and Motad , a stainless copy of the original made from single bends welded together. The penetration of the welds might c...

Re: 1991 XTZ 660 Engine rattle / clanking

That is loud :omg: The balance shaft nut can also come loose, they both need checking with a torque wrench. If the noise started after your power and neutral light problems there's a good chance all 3 are related, something loose floating round your engine like a broken cam chain link  wron...

Re: Engine Balancing for Long Distance

As Jibber says, the important part is a true crank, but only get this done if you need to split the cases to mend something else or you're planning a complete overhaul. It's a single, they can't be balanced in the same way an inline twin, triple or four can as in making pistons & rods all the same w...
